Xiexu is the Director of Communicable Disease Control and prevention Division in Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention. He graduated from Tongji Medical University for the bachelor degree of Health Statistics in 1994, and participated in two-years Chinese Field Epidemiology Training Program (CFETP) in 2004. His research fields includes communicable disease control and management, management of the notifiable infectious disease report system of Shenzhen City. He has also taken in charge of some investigation and control of many disease outbreaks and public health emergencies, such as SARS, avian flu, cholera, and pandemic influenza A (H1N1). He is the member of Tropical Medicine Association of Guangdong Province and Shenzhen Preventive Medicine Association, and the vice chairman of Epidemiology Branch of Shenzhen Preventive Medicine Association. He took in charge of a Project on Science and Technology Planning of Shenzhen City in 2010, and participated in two national "Eleventh Five" major science and technology programs. He is the supervisor of two students of the field epidemiology training programme and some undergraduate internships.
