Physical and Chemical Test Division
1. Introduction
Chemical Analysis & Physical Testing Division consists of 29 employees, most of them with PhD, Master's or Bachelor’s degree, covering extensive professions, experienced in diversity chemical and physical testing area. The division includes 6 specialized groups which are spectrophotometer group, gas chromatographic group, liquid chromatographic group, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) group, biology toxic group, and comprehensive coordinate group.
The division is equipped with more than 400 sets of instruments and equipments which are evaluated as fixed assets worth more than 42 million RMB, including Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer/High Resolution Mass Spectrometry(HRGC/HRMS), Liquid Chromatographic Tandem Mass Spectrometry/Linear Ion Traps Coupled Device (LC-MS/MS/QTRAP), LC-MS/MS,GC-MS/MS, LC-ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Mercury Vapor Analyzer, Double Ways for Atomic Fluorescence Spectrophotometer, Automatic Flow Injection Analyzer, Thin Layer Chromatography, Automatic Protein Analyzer, ELISA, Automatic Purification Meter, Automatic Solid Phase Extraction Apparatus, Parallel Evaporation Meter, Rotary Evaporators, Accelerated Solvent Extraction Device, High-Speed Freeze Centrifuge, Nitrogen Gas Concentration Meter and so on.
2. Main Responsibilities
(1) Carrying out physical and chemical R&D and surveillance work on food safety including trace inorganic elements, pesticides, veterinary drug residues, natural toxicants, packaging, persistent pollutants, and food quality including nutrition. Providing technical supports for monitoring foodborne illness and warning food contaminants,affording technical guidance and related services for society.
(2) Undertaking physical and chemical R&D and surveillance work on drinking water, disinfectant and drinking water related materials, studying on indoor health hazard factors and environmental hazards factors.
(3) Providing technical support and research platform of toxic chemical monitoring research for public health emergencies. Carrying out the physical and chemical emergency determinations on a series of public health accidents, such as food poisoning and environmental pollution. Pursuing international advanced technology and focusing on the emerging of new compounds, developing new method for new contaminants, furthermore guarantee ecology and food safety as well as human health.
(4) Application of new technologies: a. Performing diversity contamination tests and researches of PCDD/Fs, PCBs, PBDEs and other new emerging compounds on animal and plant foods, food additives, animal feedings, environmental sample, chemical products, detergent and cosmetics, food processing aids, and electronic products. b. Detecting on radioactive total α and total β in water.
(5) Continuing to promote the key POPs laboratory construction work. Proceeding a series of high level of scientific research activities, major in POPs and people health related research. Training and guiding the undergraduates and graduate students to finish graduation practice and thesis.
(6) Development and application promotion for new technologies and methods. Providing guidance and training for the subordinate units on analytical technologies.
(7) Participating in establishment in the hygiene standards and standard methods. Providing technical cooperation for the related field in business consulting services.
